The Global Change Institute at the University of the Witwatersrand is a donor-funded research entity focusing in supporting decision makers with robust scientific evidence on matters of sustainability and global change.
The purpose of this position is to provide research support and project management expertise to the newly launched Bosch- Pan African College on Sustainable Cities. The project coordinator will be directly responsible for the planning and implementation of the College activities. This includes oversight on activities at partner institutions, reporting and insuring compliance with the funder’s term and conditions. Together with the participation of all faculty and students, the project coordinator will also create, build and support a fully functional, active, collaborative, sustainable network. This is a 4 year fixed term appointment with the possibility of renewal.
Key responsibilities include the following:
· Project management
· Network building and coordination
· Project financial administration and reporting
· Masters degree in an appropriate field of study
· A post-graduate diploma or formal certification in project management
· Minimum of three years’ experience in project management and related roles
· Experience of University finance system (Oracle)
· Experience in recruitment and management of postgraduate students
· Experience in setting up networks and collaborator activities amongst various stakeholders
· Proficiency in office software
Desirable competencies: planning and organizing, good time-management skills, good verbal and written communication skills, accountability and service focused, reliability, discretion and dependability
