Job Description

Senmin is recruiting for a Process Controller to work on a shift basis. The purpose of this job will be to adhere to SHEQ policies, control and operate plant and equipment as efficiently and safely as possible to defined quality speculations. They will also report and investigate deviations from normal conditions and be able to deal with basic process upsets.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Prepare the plant for startup and startup the process • Collect full raw material drums, bags and/or IBC containers/ flow-bins from warehouse • Responsible for replacing filters/strainers and other authorized maintenance operations • Operate forklift and chain hoist • Complete batch tickets for different products being manufactured • Shutdown process • Control, monitor and operate plants/ processes and equipment from DCS system and within scope of authority. • Take routine & non-routine field readings and diagnose faults affecting plant conditions • Clean & prepare equipment & the work area • Prepare plant for maintenance and reinstate after maintenance is complete • Ensure correct product labels with batch numbers are on correct drums/ flow bins • Measure, mix & dose chemicals into the reaction vessels • Draw test samples for quality purposes • Drum off finished product into bulk tankers, drums, bags or other containers for shipment • Receive and off-load raw materials from bulk tankers • Act as first line of defense in case of a fire and other emergencies • Perform any other related tasks as may be required from time to time • Do shift hand-over in the plant area at the specified time • Maintain production in the event of engineering breakdowns • Quick and accurate decision making required when several things go wrong at once with operators and engineers waiting for answers • Maintain control in the event of emergencies • Must be available for training and deployment on any plant as per operational requirements

Qualifications & Experience

• Matric / Grade 12 with mathematics and science or NQF equivalent • NQF 4 Plant Operations advantageous • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a chemical production environment • An aptitude for science and technology • Ability to work carefully and methodically • Ability to concentrate for long periods during repetitive work • Ability to act quickly when problems arise • Awareness of health, safety and environmental issues • Time management skills • Computer literate: MS Word, MS Excel & Lotus Notes • Shift work required • Capacity to maintain performance levels in stressful environment

The incumbent will be responsible for management of compliance to good manufacturing practices, quality and food safety related activities to secure consumer safety. The role interacts with internal customers within the manufacturing operation namely Production, Logistics, Site Services and Continuous Improvement.

Duties and Responsibilities

Quality, GMP and Food Safety: Oversee the hygiene surveys for site including post CIP verification of wet plants. This is in accordance to AIB and FSSC 22 000 requirements.
