What will you do?

The Junior Business Development Manager will be responsible for developing and maintaining an Investment Intermediary portfolio and increasing Sanlam Group’s market share of retail investment business from this portfolio.

Key outcomes

The following outcomes will be expected to be achieved by the Junior Business Development Manager:
• To attract new business and increase retention of existing investment business
• To service and support Independent Financial Advisors (brokers), IFA groups (corporates), the Administration support staff of these businesses and the Sanlam Broker Services support structures to these intermediaries
• To ensure that profitable annual sales volumes and monthly targets are met by directly and actively growing and managing an Intermediary Portfolio
• To develop and implement a regional business plan for the Intermediary portfolio (sales volumes, investment education and training, marketing and client services – administration)
• To supply accurate investment, product, fund, service’s and investor information
• To train and develop the Intermediary’s, Intermediary’s support staff and Sanlam Distribution Support Structures
• To support investment projects and campaigns (marketing support)
• To participate in investment product implementation (presentations, product development & client service support)

• To facilitate or identify Intermediary needs – technology, reporting and developing a profitable practice
• To co-ordinate and maintain effective SLA’s with all relevant stakeholders
• To ensure adherence to all regulatory requirements (e.g. FAIS, FICA)
• Assisting the Snr Business Development Manager in servicing Intermediaries in the process reaching monthly inflow targets
• Co-ordinate and manage training functions/events and fund manager presentations
• Training Intermediaries /IFA’s and their assistants regarding the administration side of investment products & IT systems
• Managing the Intermediaries Database
• Assisting with Glacier proposals, quotations, ICE, and related tools
• Attending to general day-to-day tasks associated with supporting the Sales Manager when dealing with clients and intermediaries (Intermediaries) i.r.o
– Telephone enquiries and written communication
– Assisting clients/intermediaries with processes & business
– Distribution of marketing materials (application forms, brochures)
• Attending to office administration (co-ordinating of sales/marketing interventions , preparing documentation, overall smooth flow of day-to-day tasks)
• Building  and maintaining relationships with all stakeholders
• Traveling across the entire region is an essential part of this functional role

Qualifications and experience

• Relevant financial/ investment qualification (Financial tertiary qualification and CFP)
• Supporting and developing of intermediary (IFA) practices
• Proven Sales related success and track record
• Technical knowledge about retail investments, retail investment industry and trends
• Valid drivers’ license and own reliable vehicle

Qualification and Experience
Degree or Diploma with 4 to 6 years related experience.
