Main Responsibilities or Functions of the Job

Report and coordinate all activities with underground supervisor

RD’s required per panel
RD’s available per panel
Movement to new panels timeously
Coach and mentor rock drill operators underground on rock drill and power pack operations

Ensure good understanding of the functionalities of both power pack and rock drill.
Ensure good understanding of fault finding on both power pack and rock drill
Ensure rock drill operator has the ability to assemble and operative equipment.
Enforce safe operating procedures

Guide rock drill operators to ensure equipment is pre inspected for fitness to operate
Coach rock drill operators to ensure machines are stacked and stored correctly
Control and coordinate HRD as per planned maintenance schedule

Ensure proper communication with regards to equipment planned to come out or go down
Coordinate replacement of equipment

Keep Epiroc team in informed of equipment not in use to be moved / send out, and new equipment required.
Monitor hours on power pack

Download power pack hours at least once in two weeks and submit report to Epiroc Administrator
Monitor meters on rock drill

Compile daily report on meters drilled for each rock drill
Compile daily report on power packs in use.
Report on breakdowns on all equipment daily and action taken to rectify.
Ensure water pressure is set within the recommended parameters
Educational Qualifications and Experience

Grade 12 / Matric
5 Years’ Experience in drilling operations and mining industry
Rock drill operator knowledge and experience
Knowledge on the Epiroc HRD drilling equipment will be beneficial for the candidate
Required skills and capabilities

Must have good communication skills
Deliver good quality of work
Be able to meet deadlines
Be able to interface with customers
