To monitor the compliance of the business with Customs and other statutory provisions relating to international trade by way of identifying, mitigating and managing Customs risk and advising the National Compliance Team and keeping affected clients informed.
Qualifications & Experience
• Matric (Grade 12) • B Comm (Law)/LLB • Post Graduate qualification in the industry will be an advantage • Not less than 3 years Customs specific experience (with qualification), or without qualification, 15 years Customs specific experience and all-round experience dealing with other Government Departments e.g. ITAC, NRCS, SAPS, etc. • Knowledge and experience with Customs Acts and other statutory provisions relating to international trade. • Knowledge and experience in classification. • Knowledge and experience in rules of origin. • Knowledge and experience in valuation.
• Participation in collective forums e.g. SAFF, SARS stakeholder workshops, DTi workshops, etc. • Consulting, supporting and advising both internal and external clients on matters of registration and licensing, Tariff, Value and Origin Determinations, etc. • Manage a central Customs and international trade knowledge center for the business e.g. Tariff Determinations, VDN’s, Policy Documents, Amendments in legislation. • Manage the national customs risk report. • Keep up to date with changes in Customs and international trade legislation and communicate changes to the business. • Conducting audits on various bonded facilities. • Conducting audits on compliance matters i.e. acquittals, code 8, etc. • Analyzing risk report and provide guidance and training on matters that require improvement. • Providing training as and when business requires. • Customs Securities and Guarantees.
