Business Unit Manager will be responsible for Managing the Business strategy, Marketing strategy, Product portfolio and Operations, and provide relevant, valuable strategic recommendations on the company’s current markets and potential new markets in Southern African.

The role is responsible for commercial, operational and financial results and as the Business head to support the organization to identify business opportunities and shaping strategies across the business with solid insights and actionable recommendations. To work collectively with cross-functional teams and support the organization to shape business strategies.

  • Develop a sales strategy to achieve organizational sales goals and revenues
  • Cultivate effective business relationships with executive decision makers.
  • Preparation of budgets and individual account sales target plans, quantified with appropriate products and brands
  • Maintain and grow support team
  • Identify new opportunities and prepare solutions to realise potential
  • Develop and deploy deals to maximize value and volume
  • Manage and expand product portfolio
  • Investigate and report on lost sales and customer accounts
  • Track, collate and interpret sales figures
  • Forecast annual, quarterly and monthly sales revenue
  • Maintain inventory control
  • Conduct market research and competitor and customer analysis
  • Analyse data to identify sales opportunities
  • Develop promotional ideas and material with marketing team
  • Uphold responsibilities as the primary business contact for the customer
  • Proactively manage customers satisfaction and service delivery
  • Build and manage strong internal and external relationships
  • Co-ordinate strategic plans to meet and exceed sales targets
  • Take responsibility for the profit, loss and growth achieved in the account
  • Track performance and make necessary adjustments to ensure achieve account plans
  • Maintain excellent knowledge of our products, the customers business, competition, industry and capabilities of the customer
  • Anticipate customers’ existing and future needs
  • Manage all points of contact internally and externally to ensure all points of contact and influence are being served appropriately
  • Develop solutions for client’s needs and tap into the wider resources within the organization to develop client/ partner solutions which are mutually beneficial
  • Bring fresh insights to the business which will help deliver a competitive advantage
  • Regular meetings with head office.
  • Create an environment oriented to trust, open communication, creative thinking and cohesive team effort
  • Provide daily direction and input to support team.
  • Serve as a focal point to communicate and resolve interface and integration issues with other teams
  • Tracking of team and individual targets
  • Encourage creativity, risk-taking, and constant improvement
  • Coach and help develop team members to exceed their personal best
  • Facilitate problem solving and collaboration
  • Evaluate performance of sales staff
  • Work closely with all departments to achieve goals set (Procurement, Marketing, Accounts, Technical, Supply Chain)


  • Degree in Accounting/Finance/Economics/Business Management/Marketing or similar
  • 3-5 years’ work experience as Business management or in a similar role.
  • In-depth knowledge of forecasting and budgeting controls will be an added advantage.
  • 2-5 years’ experience as a Business Analyst (Planning and Financial / Business modelling)
  • 2-5 years’ experience in a business development role taking projects from design/concept stage through planning/building and implementation
  • Good presentation skills, proficiency in PowerPoint and good working knowledge of Excel.
  • Willing and capable to travel regularly to locations (within Southern Africa) as per each project requirements
  • Hands-on operational experience (must be will willing to roll up sleeves)
  • Additionally, ability to direct strategy is also important – the successful candidate will have a blend of strategic thinking and execution
