CARPENTRY WORKER


Responsibilities include:

  • Assist in training Carpentry learners for a period of six months
  • Offers short courses to registered learners
  • Assists learners in their compilation of Portfolio of Evidence (PoE)
    • Assists the Training Officer with the assessment of learners as required by the unit standards by using

the standard forms in the assessment policy and procedures

  • Assists the Training Officer with records keeping.
  • Monitors that learners support materials are available and informs the Training Officer when there is a

need to update/improve certain areas of learning

  • Monitors cleanliness of the centre
  • Responsible for the store room and keeps an updated stock register
  • Responsible for Health and Safety at Carpentry and the Skills Department as a whole (Safety Rep)
    • Identify programme needs and recommend to the Training Officer
  • Minimise waste of consumables
  • Assists the Training Officer with maintenance of equipment and the buildings

 

Intrinsic requirements

  • Demonstrate Safety and Health practices during training and assessment
  • Facilitation and Assessment skills
  • Organising and planning skills
  • Computer literacy
  • Good verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to work with literacy disadvantaged learners
  • A good command of one of the local languages, i.e. Sepedi or Tsonga will be advantageous

 

Requirements

  • Grade 12;
  • Carpentry Qualifications/ Trade Qualification;
  • Assessor (ETDP SETA approved)
  • Training skills.
  • Driver’s licence.
  • Three years training at a recognised and accredited training centre
