Anglo American offers people from different communities different learnership opportunities in different regions of South Africa. This training is part of the government’s national skills development strategy to reduce poverty and unemployment, as well as the Anglo American policy itself.
Anglo-American learnership is open to those who have the necessary qualifications for the placed learnership requirements. Different Anglo-American divisions offer a variety of Anglo-American language opportunities for matriculants and graduates. This training consists of theoretical as well as practical training.

This learnership opportunities is hosted by Anglo American Thermal Coal (South Africa) and is available at the Landau Colliery Farm in Mpumalanga.
Anglo American thermal coal learnerships
It is results-based learnership and is based on a legally binding agreement between the learner, the employer and the service provider.
This engineering learnership study covers the following areas: automotive electrician, assembly (including machining), diesel mechanic and rigs.
General learnership requirements:
Applicants must be South African citizens
Applicants must have a sound knowledge of the rules and safety systems and standards.
The applicant must have a high respect for safety and excellent safety performance
Applicants must have N2 / N3 technical qualification subjects, ie.
Motor electrician (science and math, electrical technology / theory of electrical commerce, or industrial electronics)
Diesel Mechanic (Diesel Trade Theory, Mathematics, Engineering, Science)
Assembly, including machining (science, mathematics, composition, engineering drawing and machining theory)
Rigger (engineering drawing, math, Rigger trade theory, science)
The applicant must have a valid driver’s license (Provincial K53) without any validation
Candidates must be medically fit and have a valid certificate
Applicants must have at least one year of experience in an underground mining environment. This will benefit him or her
Candidates must be able to withstand pressure, start themselves and be innovative
Applicants should be aware that they must be available for shift work and standby and to make calls if needed.
If a candidate is selected for training, the applicant must be prepared to undergo a psychometric assessment
The learnership program contract is a legally binding contract and any breach or breach of the contract conditions will be dealt with in accordance with sections 97, 17 and 18 of the Skills Development Act 1998.

*Attach certified copies of your certificates and ID (this must be certified within the last 3 months; you can do so at any police station)
*Late or unsigned application forms will not be accepted
*Copied forms will not be accepted
*Fax or email forms are not accepted
*Applications that have not been answered within 30 days of the filing date will be considered unsuccessful. Only selected applicants will be invited to the interview
Remember that during your practical training you will be responsible for your own accommodation, transport and meals. It is therefore recommended that you apply for training in the region or area closest to your place of residence.
