Purpose of the Role

This role forms part of a team that is responsible for developing, maintaining and constantly improving a complete credit risk measurement framework covering the end-to-end credit lifecycle within Absa Relationship Banking. Over and above providing support towards effective credit portfolio management, the team also strives to apply leading-edge predictive risk techniques to establish a balance between risk and reward and therefore covers credit capital measurement and optimisation as well.

Your ability to “hit the ground running”, strategic risk experience as well as solid SAS/Data Analytics skills will serve you well in this role. A strong quantitative, stats and/or actuarial background with a proven track record of running with an entire project from conceptualization, extraction of data, formulating strategies to subsequent impacts of implementation through to excellent stakeholder engagement and management will be an added advantage.

Key Accountabilities

  • Portfolio performance measurement and optimisation. This involves performing analytics to support effective portfolio management and strategy optimisation in each aspect of the credit life-cycle covering acquisition scorecard monitoring, credit lending strategies, distressed assets support and recovery strategies;
  • Value creation through stakeholder engagement and management. This involves the communication and coordination of analytical requirements and results with the appropriate segment senior leadership within the Relationship Banking Credit Risk function/team;
  • Provide support in terms of monitoring and control through the coordination and development of relevant portfolio management information packs and business intelligence required by key committees within the Relationship Banking Credit Risk function/team;
  • B Degree or equivalent (Mathematics/Statistics or Risk Management);
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in credit risk;
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in data analysis, utilising a standard statistical package such as SAS working with large data sets

Knowledge & Skills

  • Knowledge of Credit lending strategies;
  • Knowledge of Analytical analysis & interpretation;
  • Knowledge of Scorecard development and monitoring;
  • Knowledge of Microsoft office software;
  • Knowledge of Credit analytics;
  • Skills SAS (Advanced) required;

General

  • No criminal record
  • Preference will be given to South African Citizens and Permanent residents of South Africa in possession of proof of permanent resident status
